Creative workshops!
There are currently 5 different creative workshops planned, with several more to be finalized in the next 2 weeks. Some may change to accomodate guest availability!

  • Tangled Tea Bag folding
  • Beyond the prestrung Zendala
  • Wooden Mandalas
  • Spirograph... steal it back from the kids!
  • Suminagashi and Tangling
    • The art of Japanese Marbling
  • 14 Shades of Gray- with Guest Teacher Sonya Yencer CZT14
    • Create drama in your tiles by seamlessly combining inked and penciled tangles. Master the skill of adding a focal point and good eye movement across your artwork
For those that don't know... Sonya and Cris Letourneau  authored one of my very favorite books about Zentangle, Pattern Play!

Other teachers to be announced, but it's going to be amazing!

A little more zen...
I have a qualified Yoga teacher who has agreed to come in and teach some basic hand, arm and shoulder stretches that we can learn and then pass on to our students as part of
Massage anyone?
Spending a weekend creating is relaxing and enjoyable, but if you hold your tension in your shoulders, there will be a massage therapist available for chair massage on Saturday and possibly Sunday morning as well! *Additional fee applies
I wanted to create a weekend where we can create while also networking and sharing business tips.
Many of the CZT's I've spoken to have said that they'd love the opportunity to learn more about how others use, teach and market their Zentangle® businesses, so we'll have a couple hours of "Open space technology" on Saturday that's designed to brainstorm, work with one another to develop ideas and share best practices.
I will also have a session on painless ways to grow your business, collaboration and marketing.
Some of the topics that will be addressed are:

  • Creating your elevator speech, and why it's important
  • Should I quit my day job
  • Overcoming obstacles in booking classes
  • Turning admirers into students
What about food?
Buffalo is home to some amazing food. I will provide breakfast, lunch and snacks Sat & Sunday, as well as dinner on Friday night.
We can make arrangements to go to dinner as a group or on our own for Saturday night.

Where should I stay?
One of the nicest things about my location is that I am 15 minutes from downtown Buffalo in one direction and 15 minutes from Niagara Falls in the other.
I am working on a group rate for a small, clean and very close hotel (about 3 minutes away) Center Way Hotel where private rooms should be less than $100 per night but all major chains are available within a 10 minute drive.

When should I get there? What do I need?
Arrive any time after 1 pm on Friday July 10th, 2015.  Check in at local hotels is usually around 3, but you can bring things to the studio if you arrive before then. I'll have snacks, tea, coffee, some lemonade available.
Friday night will be open studio time with wine and REAL buffalo chicken wings.
(Other options available if requested!)

Bring whatever you love to use when you are tangling, your basic supplies, maybe some scissors, pencils, glue, personal lamp if you want one (I have lots of outlets) and if you have it an exacto knife and small cutting mat, or we can share.
Some color pencils will be helpful too.

We have access to an inground pool if our hearts desire, so you may want to bring a bathing suit. I promise, despite it being Buffalo... you won't need mittens this weekend!
If there are  particular foods or drinks you'd like to have on hand, I can make space for those, so feel free to bring them or let me know.

You're welcome to come earlier or stay later just let me know!
